I meet with clients Monday through Thursday. I have morning, afternoon, and early evening hours available.

I am located in Cary, NC. I am licensed in North Carolina, but Psypact legislation passed in over 36 states authorizes me to practice in many other US states including:

I have a personal (HIPAA Compliant) Zoom Therapy room and waiting room. Prior to your scheduled appointment, a private link will be sent to your e-mail. At the scheduled time, simply click the link to enter our virtual therapy room. It is as simple as that!

We can meet wherever you have internet and privacy, at home, your office, or many times people even meet me in their car. It is important that no one can hear you and you are somewhere you feel comfortable expressing your feelings. Of course, you need to be parked and be free from interruptions so you have this time to focus on yourself.

Online therapy gives you access to counseling, where and when you need it. Many people prefer the flexibility of online sessions, especially when dealing with childcare needs, work schedules, or simply avoiding traffic. Clients often tell me they feel more comfortable in their own homes. And don't worry, research has supported online therapy as an effective alternative to in-person therapy.

When you select any of the buttons on my website that say let's get started or I want to schedule my free consultation etc.. You will be taken to my therapy portal.

On the portal, you will indicate you are a new client. You will provide your phone number and email so I can contact you. Unfortunately, my software does not allow me to include a selection for the free 15-30 minute consultation. So you will choose an intake appointment. You will choose the day and time to talk and I will change the intake into a consultation appointment on my end.

At the time you have chosen, I will either call you by telephone or you can request that we do the consultation on Zoom. You can ask for a Zoom consultation rather than telephone on the contact form or you can text me this request. If you don't request a Zoom consultation, I will call you on the telephone.

Some people like a chance to get to know me better by seeing me on Zoom for their consultation, while others prefer taking things slower and talking on the phone first. Either is completely fine with me. I want you to do it the way you are most comfortable.

After you sign up for your consultation, I will send you an email with instructions so you will not forget what is going to happen next. I know this is a difficult time and I don't want you to feel intimidated, confused, or even just have a lot to remember.

This email will include all of the information above and below. Next, I will either call you by telephone or I will meet you on Zoom for our consultation. My Zoom rooms are HIPAA compliant.

If we are meeting by Zoom rather than talking by telephone, a private link will be sent to your e-mail before your consultation time. At the scheduled time, simply click the link to enter the online waiting room and I will let you into the consultation room. It is as simple as that!

At your consultation, I will give you all of the information you need to decide if you would like to begin therapy. I will answer all of your questions and tell you what will happen next.

I will give you a good idea of what therapy will be like and how I approach working with clients.

I will also try to determine if I am a good fit for your needs. I know it is very disappointing to start therapy and then figure out that the therapist is not the best for what you need. You are never obligated to start or continue in therapy, if it does not seem like a good fit for any reason, I will give you a referral so you can find a provider who is better suited for you.

Everyone feels either a little bit nervous (or a lot nervous) before their first appointment with a new therapist. I promise you will feel more at ease once you talk with me during our consultation and especially after we meet by Zoom. Most people tell me they are very comfortable by the middle of the first session and feel so much better coming to their second session. It is hard to open up and be vulnerable with someone you don't know. You should always do this at your own speed.

After our consultation, but before our first appointment, I will send you a link to the secure client portal where you will fill out paperwork at your convenience.

Then, at our first appointment, we will start by addressing any questions you may have from completing the paperwork. It is important that you feel comfortable with this information because it lays the foundation for our relationship.

Next, we will talk about what brought you to therapy and I will share with you how I believe I can help. It is important that we both feel good about how to proceed. I will also ask you about your background to better understand all of the things past and current that are contributing to the reason you came in. Most clients leave the first session feeling hopeful about their future and relieved to have gotten a solid start.
